There's a reason we keep returning to Portuguese Flannel

There are shirts that are easy to like. Others become the ones you reach for without thinking.

Portuguese Flannel sits entirely in the latter category. It's the fabric, how it feels when you wear it and the quiet confidence of the construction that becomes apparent the more you wear it. Nothing feels overdone. It's not trying hard to be get a compliment.

Portuguese Flannel resides from Guimarães in northern Portugal, a region with a long history of textile production. Family-run and now in its fourth generation, Portuguese Flannel has remained close to the mills and land around it. Fabrics are selected for their texture, weight and character, with traditional techniques continuing to shape how the shirts are manufactured.

That authenticity and appeal go hand in hand. Portuguese Flannel hasn't needed to fabricate a story of where it comes from, the story is already there. The fabrics, the factories and the people producing the clothes are all one in the same.

Maybe that's why people often return to the brand. Naturally, every season demands something new, but because of the craft the shirts become familiar. A favourite flannel evolves its own character. A well worn cotton shirt becomes part of the daily rotation. You learn that it does what you want it to, and then you come back for another.

In the Progress Running Club collection, we've selected an intentional group of styles that speak to what we like most about Portuguese Flannel. Exceptional fabrics, approachable shapes and details that warrant another look. Plush cotton flannels, textures and thoughtful construction make these shirts effortless to wear now, and easy to imagine reaching for years to come.

Good clothing sometimes thrives with understatement. Often, the only reason you want to buy something is with the knowledge you'll want to wear it again tomorrow.

Pair a Portuguese Flannel shirt with a Universal Works Raven Fleece Advance Cardigan or Barbour Transport Fleece Jacket for a complete fit. Some understated off white Healthknit socks and you are set.
